Watch me grow!

When I go visit my parents I can still see the pencil lines on the kitchen doorway where my mom marked the growth of all the grandchildren.  The kids loved to have her measure them and make their mark.

I want to create the same kind of memories for our grandkids so yesterday I stitched up a growth chart to hang on our wall. I found this fun monkey fabric in my stash and made it up as I went along.  I still have to figure out how I am going to mark it.  Any creative ideas?

27 inches and thirty inches tall so far.  We have a lot of wonderful growing up years ahead of us.

How cute! The fabric is just perfect for growth charts! For marking you could use pigma pens, or even stitch the markings :-)

That chart is so cute. I think you should stitch the markings

To mark the child's height you could cut out a little arrow shape from fabric that has been pressed to paper backed fusible web. Mark the date on the arrow with a fabric pen and iron it on to the quilt pointing at the correct height measurement.

Very, very cute! Now that I have a grandchild, I'll need to make something like that.

I think you are going to have to mark it with a fabric pen for it to stay there and always be a reminder... and use a different colour for each grandie... wonderful growth chart as well xxxx

We had the same thing in the house where I grew up. All of my children's heights were marked and dated on a piece of molding by the back door. We recently rented out the old family home, and had a contractor remove the molding. It is now at my house next to a piece of molding marking the growth of our six grandchildren. It is so much fun to compare heights of our children to their own children.

What a fun growth chart, I bet your grandkids will really appreciate it as they grow older.

That's adorable - and so are the kids! When you come up with a marking idea, let me know. Sorry, I'm no help.

That is so cute...we had one for the kids when they were little. Maybe try a pigma pen to marrk and then stitch over. You could start with an invisible pen first to make sure it's where you want it to be. Your grand daughters are so very sweet!
