I can see clearly now…

new sewing light

My sewing room was once a bedroom.  The minute the kids left home it became mine….my own wonderful space where I can create to my hearts content.

new work light

But I’ve been noticing it is harder and harder to see little stitches. And then there are colors…they are one thing during the day and change when working in the evenings with the light fixture on.  I got my glasses adjusted….still frustrated.  I moved in some lamps … still frustrated.  Then it dawned on me…this is a work shop…not a bedroom.  I still had the light fixture from when it was a bedroom.  I immediately replaced it with a more functional…yet really pretty…light with higher wattage capabilities and more bulbs.

Now in the evenings when I flip the switch, it looks like the sun is shining all over my room.

I even got a better type of bulbs that don’t change the colors of things.  They shine nice and bright and clean.

It’s a world of difference and I’m loving it!

That is a great idea! I'll have to remember that when we finally get a house of our own.

Oh my goodness - what a beautiful room and love that you display your quilts there. Love your white walls because then everything pops against them. Would it be okay if I said - now get to work and start messing up that room making more awesome quilts? Enjoy!!

Your sewing room is lovely, what a wonderful place to create and work.

The new ceiling lamp fits right in.

I have a pretty functional overhead light, but I'd not thought about the bulbs! I'll pick some of those reveal bulbs up the next time I'm out! Thanks!

I know just what you mean about getting harder and harder to see. I have two Ott lights on my sewing table. But I like the idea of using the reveal bulbs in my over head light and lamps--I'll give it a try.

Lighting makes all the difference. I just hate the thought that we will all be using flourescent bulbs by 1914. I am stocking up on bulbs now as I will not be able to see anything then.

Your sewing room is really nice! I'll have to see if I can find those bulbs, or similar ones over here!

You are looking very organized right now! Just wait though, right? But now that you can see everything I'm sure there will be no lost tools in that room. Have fun! - Marlene

Hi Annette, Your sewing space is lovely, love all the mini quilts. My dear hubby bought me a sewing light bulb that is full spectrum. It's nice and bright also. You have a very nice blog, just found you. Love the yellow GFG or hexie quilt, what a treasure. Nice to meet you.
