Meet a Good Guy

No, you have not reached the National Geographic Blog. This is still Sunshine Yellow. I just wanted you to meet my very good (and handsome) friend, T-rex.

I have so enjoyed getting to meet all your dear little friends; the fun duo Hugo and Felix, adorable and cuddly Fancy and then there is the computer literate Binnie. I've also noticed a few beautiful birds out there. Now I figured it was time to share my sweet pet with you.

We have had T-rex for 2 years now. He moved in here as a tiny babe about 4 spunky inches long. Now he is a grown easy-going man of 18 inches and has been the perfect pet. He doesn’t bark, or need to be taken outside for walks. He doesn’t shed around the house, doesn’t chew up shoes or scratch furniture. Or cost a lot in maintenance. When you want a friend, he is there. When you are tired of him, he is happy to sit quietly in his glass cage without complaints.

And he makes me laugh.

T-rex loves embroidery and is a stitcher watcher. He will sit with me for hours and keep an eye on that fascinating needle going in and out and in and out. Instead of a backdrop for his cage he has it decorated with his very own bug quilt.

Most people think lizards are unemotional. But to one who has gotten to know and understand this one, I realize that even though he may be incapable of loving me, he does like me very much. I notice him perk up when he sees me coming down the hall each morning. And if he wanders off a ways, he always comes back after a while to just sit by me. I can read that as friendship.

I can’t wait to read your comments, but please, no EWWWW’s! T-rex does have one flaw….tender feelings. :-)

Hey he's pretty cute. He reminds me of the 'horney toads' we'd find in the big field next to our house growing up. I loved those things. Believe me a quiet pet sounds divine sometimes!

A quilt of his own for a backdrop! How fun. I had a horny toad for a pet when I lived in the desert in CA and we always were catch and releasing various lizards. :o)

My sons would love a pet like him ( so I better not let them see your photos! ;o).

I think he is pretty cool. What do you feed him? Do you have to go to the pet store and get him crickets or some other insect?

Oh Annette, he is the cutest little thing. Would be rather hard to have him on your knee and stroke his back though.
All animals have individual personalities though and I am sure he does love you to bits!

It is so nice to have a friend to keep you company when you are sewing! I love his little quilt. He is a pretty handsome guy. By the way, is that a cricket on his head?

What a great guy! I love horney toads. We used to see them on our Texas ranch scurring down the road and it was always a thrill!

He deserves an extra big bug for posing so nicely for you! Thanks for sharing!!!!

What does he eat? Does he spend much time out of his cage socializing? I'm fascinated.

What a great friend to have. I have never belived someone could have such a cool sewing pal.It must be wonderful to have a calm pal like him. I have a bad-tempered parrot. He has been screeming for more than a hour, wanted to get out of his cage. He belived we were looking on tv. :-)

I think he's a cutie. The second picture is funny, it looks like he's holding the hexagon in his mouth. Is he?? That would be a great helper if he passed you the fabric!

I think T-Rex is so cute! He reminds me of Earl, a baby horny toad that my sister found and wanted to keep when we were little. Earl was only about an inch long! We loved that little guy but had to let him go. I think T-Rex needs a little jacket! x

Oh, I love him! I have a soft spot for lizards. I used to have a leopard gecko years ago and loved her! What kind of lizard is t-rex, and what does he eat?

He is a very handsome fellow! I had an iguana about 10yrs ago and they are so much fun. He was about 3and1/2ft. long when he went to lizard heaven. One day I will get another. They are charming pets.

We had a very large iquana a few years ago. Somehow he got out of the house - he liked to roam around the house part of the day - the part AFTER he pooped in his cage. Anyway, I really liked him a lot. He was very primal - always in the moment so to speak. I like lizards a lot. Take care and thanks for sharing your pet. Linda

Annette, A nice looking guy you have in T-Rex. I smile everytime I see him, since I know for a fact all the enjoyment, and pleasure he provides for you.

I don't know about these particular lizards but with the iquanas - they like to go up to the highest place so I would find him at the top of the curtains in the living room or at the top of the spiral stairs in the family room. He was a pretty good little guy, too.

My daughter has a beared dragon too and I love him. I was going to blog about him later. He's still a baby and sits w/ me while I type.
I'm not a big lizard lover, but I love this little guy, he's my bud ;-)
