I learned something new today

I like to crochet but haven’t done much of that lately. I used to make lots of booties to give away. Baby stuff is always fun to make. I crocheted around receiving blankets and burp cloths but always had to buy the fabric pre-hemstitched, which is more expensive. Several years ago when I bought a new Bernina, I was told that it could hemstitch. I was excited about that and kept it in mind but up till today, never tried it out. It works great! I then settled in my comfortable chair and quickly crocheted two burp cloths this evening. And I wondered what took me so long to get around to this.

It looks fabulous Annette. That stitch is so cute. Did you use a wing needle? I've made some with my Bernina, too. But it has been a while. They are fun.

Hi Annette, your crocheted borders are just lovely. The pink one is very similar to one I did on an oddball baby blanket and showed on my website just a few days ago. Scallops make such pretty borders.

The burp cloths are so pretty it's almost a shame to use them as intended...we all know what happens to a well used burp cloth...eeeeew!

So cute. Love the fabrics that you chose...not what we would have found when my kids were babies. Great job;)

Really nice! I can't believe that was all done on your sewing machine. That definitely makes it easier.

So pretty! Oh but the thought of a baby "burping" on it!

Annette;
What a beautiful job. Sewing machine edge and your crocheting. What machine does this nice stitch. The recipient is a lucky person. Thank's for sharing the finished product.

These burp cloths are gorgeous, love the fabrics and colours...
This year I'm hoping to buy a new sewing machine and I really want a Bernina so maybe I could make something with that stitch as well... don't need burp cloths just yet....no grandchildren...doh....

The burp clothes are adorable. Did you follow a pattern or just make it up yourself?

Annette,
I am new to your blog and love it. I have a bernina 440 and am wondering what stitch did you use for the burp clothes, and what needle. I use to crochet these all the time but I have no one to do the blind hemming anymore. Your help would be most appreciated.
Thanks for your time and your blog

Eileen
