I cut into those precious dishtowels and now have them pieced into a quilt. I used 30’s repro fabrics plus a few others that go well with the whole theme. I love these colors together with the dishtowels and I’ve had lots of fun playing with them.
The pinwheels are the colors of our wedding, blue and yellow (although ours were much softer). We chose those because Mr. Sunshine’s favorite color is blue and mine is yellow. A good match (in more ways than one).☺
Now for borders. I have a few ideas…
Annette, you picked the perfect fabrics to go with those wonderful dish towels! I just know your friend would be thrilled to see them again like this!

These fabrics frame the dish towels perfectly. I that you notice the beautiful hand work even more and can really show them off in a wonderful way now! Your friend is going to be so happy and honored that you did this! You will be able to enjoy them so much more now! This is a treasure!!! Great job! and you are fast! XO
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! I love the way you set the dishtowels in the quilt.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's wonderful! I have a coverlet that my grandma made for me when I was born, which has blocks that were drawn with fabric paints by all my aunts and cousins. She made one for each of her 36 (I think?) grandchildren (she had 11 kids!). It's sitting in my closet waiting for the perfect way to restore it. I think this may be it! Thanks for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteyou took those dishcloths and made a wonderful happy quilt. I know you will enjoy using it much more than using the pretty dishcloths and watching them be ruined over time. Great idea.
