I finshed my dresdens blades...12 in all. Now comes decision making time. What to do for the background and centers ...any suggestions? I would appreciate them.
I thought of maybe a soft light brown background but then I change my mind. I think the centers should be darker and maybe even different colors for each one: dark brown, red, green, etc.
Maybe I need to take them for a walk through the fabric shop in search of something that clicks. Actually, that sounds like my best idea all day.
Very pretty! I like your idea of making the centers with different fabrics. Can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteMy first impulse would be to make the centers all the same but different from the background. Let me know what you decide.
ReplyDeleteI say you take them to the shop with you to pick out the fabric.. i'm always a fan of auditioning the blocks.. and i like the idea of different colored centers... i'd go with 4 each of 3 colors with either a of of contrast or very similar colors.
ReplyDeleteI think shopping around is always a good idea! But I think that I might tend to go with a cream or beige background or possibly a very soft green. I love how they turned out. Simply perfect!
ReplyDeleteAnnette, your dresden plates are gorgeous. Can't wait to see it all together. I like the idea of the centers being different.

Wonderful ! I like the idea of different centers but I don't know for the background.
ReplyDeleteYour dresdens are beautyful. Use a light background, and different colours in the center. Hallo from Norway
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous...love the pic with them all stacked up! I'd say different centers would be a fun touch!
ReplyDeleteBeutiful blocks. I would suggest brown or blue centers, and offwhite backgrounds with a very tiny pattern.
ReplyDeleteYour dresdens are beautiful! I agree...I think a trip to the fabric shop is definitely required! :0)
ReplyDeleteLove the fabric line for your plates and something different for the background would be lovely ... not your usual neutral colours. Great idea for the centers.
ReplyDeleteTAking them to a shop would be the best idea, definitely. And different centres too. Just use darker colors like browns, red, maybe darker blue?
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely and so perfect looking. Whatever centers you choose will top them off wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteloving the dresdan plates at the moment........your colours look great.........
ReplyDeletewow those are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat Dresdens. I think the red or the brown would be perfect for the centers.
ReplyDeleteAnnette..I really like the dresden fabric and I'm wondering if you are making it for Christmas? I'd like to make it for my bed but I wasn't sure how apparent the Christmas print is. I didn't realize it was Christmas fabric until I looked it up at Hancock's of Paducah.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
