Not as hard as I thought

So… I started sewing the “eyes” for my Double Wedding Ring quilt…those curves making me a tad nervous.   But I found out it isn’t so difficult as I imagined.

Just pin carefully and sew carefully and ta-da!  They aren’t perfect, but by the time I finish 194 curves for the “eyes” plus 168 more curves for the centers…(whoa!!)  I should be better at it by then don’t you think?

So far the pieces are matching up so I’m not feeling exasperated and frustrated.  That’s what I worried about the most.

Instead I’m having fun!

Two more sprig blocks are finished.

I’m in the middle of reading the book “Killing Lincoln” by Bill O’Reilly and having a hard time putting it down.  Learning things about our past that I never knew before.  History wasn’t my favorite class in school and I struggled through those text books…but lately I find myself enjoying a little bit of history.  Other good ones are “1776” by David McCullough, and “Destiny of the Republic” by Candice Millard.

Now I’m going over to link up with “Whatcha Reading Tuesday”.

Hi. I really like the colors you are using in your quilt. i am also working on a DWR, but my colors are burgandys and greens to match my bedroom. I made all of my "football" shapes last summer then I had to stop to make other things. Now I am working on putting the footballs to the other piece. It is a lot easier if you place that piece on top of the football. It only has to be pinned in 3 places. But I am having trouble sewing the blocks together. I don't have any clear instructions so I am just winging it. I think maybe i will wait for you to catch up and see how you are putting it together.
I am new to your blog and I like it very much.

I love your blocks! I have always wanted to make one of those eyelash quilts. The colors/fabrics look so wonderfully vintage!

Your curved blocks are so lovely, and your applique is terrific! I made a Double Wedding Ring wall hanging once, and was so pleased with how it came out and how much easier it was to do than I had anticipated.

O, your quilting project is just beautiful. :)
I've been wanting to read that, I plan to check it out from the library, eventually.

Both Sprigs blocks and the DWR arcs are looking good! I always find O'Reilly very readable and that's on my list.

Those look awesome. You will be an expert when you are finished.

I loved that book and then the Kennedy one too.

I adore your Stars and Sprigs blocks. As soon as I finish my current applique projects, that is next! Love your fabric choices.

Love both your projects, Annette. Your work always leaves me in awe. Sew, sew pretty and I love the feed sack fabrics you're using for the DWR.

Thanks for sharing.
