The grand finale

068

My Building Houses from Scraps quilt all quilted and bound.

It feels so good to have it all finished at last.

054

With all those tiny seams, it is a heavy, warm quilt.

060

I chose to add a scalloped border.

My first attempt at that and now I know I'll do it again.

Really fun!

Awesome Annette!!! Congratulations on finishing it - your scalloped border and feathers look really great. It must be fun to look at the quilt and see all those pieces of fabrics with their memories in it.

That quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I can only imagine the amount of time it took you to sew all those blocks. I love the scalloped border that you added.

Oh My Gosh!!! That quilt is AMAZING! Really gorgeous and at the same time so much fun to look at, so much to see in the little houses. Yours is the first I have seen finished. OH, and that scalloped border...awesome! I am completely smitten with scalloped borders but so very afraid to try one, even on a little table topper. Was it easier or harder than you expected it to be? Thanks so much for sharing. I stop by here often but I think this may be the first time I have posted *hanging head in shame*...I tend to be more of a lurker, but how I love your blog. Big Hugs...

What an achievement, Annette!

I can officially say that you are definitely my hero!

This is wonderful! You have been my inspiration. I have completed the 365 small houses. I still have to do my big center house. I have started to put rows together. If only I didn't have to work I could get this done rather quickly at this point. I will soldier on.

I am assuming that you used black for the setting. Regardless of the actual color, it brings everything together having used so many different fabrics for the houses. Looks very good.

What an amazing quilt. Love the scalloped border you added, beautiful. The first time I saw this quilt, I thought of the center block as heaven and all the little houses as all the mansions.

I missed this post, Annette!

I LOVE this quilt - it's a true beauty.

It is fabulous! I was just talking this weekend about how much lighter hand-quilted quilts tend to be compared to machine quilted because of all the additional stitching that usually goes into machine quilted quilts. I'd never even thought of quilts with small pieces being heavier than quilt with big pieces, but it makes sense.

I really love your building house quilt. I found this site a little bit too late to join the journey with the autor for this year but I think I will do that next year. The scallops are beautiful and the feathers too.
Enjoy it now!
