New Kid on the Block

030

I just finished this doll quilt…made special for my new cradle.  The blocks are 3”.

And I’m still working on Cheddar Cheese and Crackers from Lori’s quilt-along.  Although my cheddar is more Sunshine Yellow.  While putting it together, I kept thinking it was sort of like working a Sudoku puzzle…and I really like doing those.  I’m hand quilting it now.  I’m going to love this little quilt.

For the moment, however, everything is being pushed aside to make room for the new kid on the block…

An apple core quilt!

The apple cores are just 3” long so can be a little fiddly but the more I do the easier it gets and now I’m so hooked on these little guys.

I’ve been stitching them into nine patches first.  My idea calls for 21 blocks.  6 done over the weekend and 15 more to go.  Then sew those all together into another little doll quilt.

Very sweet doll quilt. I love the apple core block--I've never worked with it because of all the curves. Love your cozy colors.

Your doll quilts are lovely! I've not tried the apple core block. Hand piecing it is probably easier, at that small size? Beautiful, all! :o)

Your projects are all adorable! I tried to hand piece an Apple Core doll quilt, and the size was just too tiny. I love little pieces, but this was tough! Yours looks great - wonderful colors.

I'm glad you shared the block size...I would never have guessed they were so small from the photos! How beautiful they must be in person--they are truly lovely!

Love your doll quilt. I keep wanting to make one, but don't seem to get around to it. Also, you're doing a great job on the apple core.

You are in doll size quilt mode for sure. I like the colors you used in your newly finished doll quilt. Not done in "Sunshine Yellow" like your blog name. Are you a yellow lover?

Two very sweet quilts, love them both. I've been thinking about doing some apple cores. Are you hand piecing with paper pieces?

FANTASTIC! I love the look of apple core quilts!

I keep a similar little tin with a handwork applique project tucked inside -- it's in my car! I get it out whenever we're on road trips, long or short. I just have to keep my hands busy!

All of your little quilts are gorgeous, but I love your little apple core quilt. I have been wanting to do a miniature one for a while. I can't wait to see yours finished.
