Look what I found!

felt ornaments

I climbed into our little attic room to get out the Christmas decorations and came across a forgotten box filled with these felt ornaments.  I had to bring them down and have been playing with them.  So many good memories!  I stitched these up 31 years ago for our tree.  It was our second Christmas together.

They came from a book by Sandra Lounsbury Foose.  I loved her designs back then and over the years have collected five of her books.  They are all out of print now so I feel lucky to have them.

I’ve also finished two more blocks for my little applique quilt.  Each one will finish at 5 inches square.

I was getting out ornaments this week and telling my husband about each one - who gave it to us and when. He couldn't believe I could remember all that since we've been married 46 years. I just explained it was no different from him remembering every down of football he played in high school and college! blessings, marlene

Hi Annette--
I have that pink house ornament--
it was a gift from a neighbor when I lived in Ithaca NY--I do not remember her name--it was in 1980 or maybe 81!!! I did have a couple of the the authors books too for years--but do not have them anymore!!
Thanks for sharing your memory--and lovely work with us--
Happy Holidays-hugs, Di

Those applique blocks are so tiny, you brave soul! I'm sewing largish circles in the center of my Dresden Plate blocks and I'm all jittery about it - applique is not my forte.

The ornaments are so wonderfully special. I have many felt ornaments that I made long, long ago. Such sweet memories.

I am having a blast jumping around in your blog. I'm confined to a recliner while recuperating from emergency back surgery and I've enjoyed every post I've read - and seem to have a lot more to read. Thanks so much for doing your blog so I can have some fun while recuperating.
